ABOUT

Murrill is a professional portrait artist and muralist located in Roanoke, Virginia.  He obtained his Master's of Fine Art degree from Radford University with a concentration in both painting and drawing.  He has exhibited in juried exhibitions, solo exhibits, and group shows across the United States.  Murrill is currently teaches courses at Virginia Western and Patrick Henry including:  Watercolor I, II, and III, Drawing I and II, Design, and Art History and Appreciation.

MURALS

Murrill has been commissioned to paint multiple murals in the Roanoke area including Sidecar, Twisted Track, Valley View Mall, and The French Farmhouse.  His permanent work  may be seen in various locations around Southwest Virginia.

STATEMENT

My intention is to provide a contemporary perspective on the human spirit of the individual through the use of expression. Through working in charcoal I am able capture a photorealistic stage for the audience to interact with the personality of each portrait.  Overall, my work does not represent an idealistic beauty, but rather, it represents the true spirit of the individual and the depth of character that they each possess.
